======= UPDATE OF THE SYSTEM TO THE NEW VERSION =======
To make the update, it is necessary to have the administrator's rights or running the installer by using the administrator's rights (pop-up menu - right-button on mouse - Run as the administrator.../Run as...)
From the version 2.1.9 of the Modus, the ModusAdmin changed as well as the update procedure and the way of loading the license. ModusAdmin in the version 2.2 enables you for:
* checking whether a new version of the system is available, and if downloading is accessible (new versions will not placed on the page servis.rho.pl);
* installing of the downloaded version;
* updating the data base;
* automatic downloading of the license without using the page servis.rho.pl;
Updating of the data base should be conducted after logging off all the users from the program. Otherwise, a data base file can be **irreversibly corrupted !**
===== Users/links=====
Before the update, check if all user are logged out of the system. This information is visible after running anRhoAdmin and connecting with the base, e.g.:
* logged users: 0
* active links: 0
If some users are logged in the base there are some links to the database __**you should not**__ initiate the update. You have to check which users are logged in and on which workstations the links are active to the database. The aim is to inform the users about the necessity of finishing work. The information about the logged-in users and active links you can find by using the function **Users/links**.

In case of terminals, it does not matter which employee works in the system. Regardless of the suit used by the employee/user, on each workstation you have to disable the Modus/ModusTerminal program. Employees that work on the terminal do not have to finish all their products. It is enough to suspend time, because during the update, they will not have possibility of registering the end or the suspension of work time.
If after logging out of the users and the shutdown of the program on all workstations, still more than one links to the database are visible, you have to check on which workstation the link is active. Taka sytuacja może świadczyć o tym że program został zamknięty, a mimo to widnieje w procesach (Ctrl+Alt+Del). Jeśli taka sytuacja ma miejsce należy, należy na tym stanowisku **zakończyć proces**.
**Unfinished link with the database**\\ Similarly to the normal work of the system, on the link and users list, the link from the station, where the Modus was closed/suspended is visible, you have to check the processes activated on this workstation. If there is a process Modus.exe or ModusTerminal.exe, this process should be finished.
===== Download and install =====
After logging out of all users, you can download a new version and install it.
**To update the program __ModusAdminem in version 2.6 or a newer one__, you should:**
- activate the ModusAdmin on the workstation with an access to the Internet and opened port 3050.
- From the drop-and-down list choose the database a click on **Connect**, in the window Logging Data to the base enter a password (by default **masterkey**) and a user **SYSDBA** top the database server and press the button Confirm,
- If a new version is available, the button **Download and install** appears - press it to download and install the version.
- Installation of a new version on remained stations will happen automatically during the running of the program after the database update.

Before the update, the system automatically makes a backup of the database. **However, it is necessary to create a folder on the server, where the copies will be saved.** More about making copies you can read **[[administrator:kopie_zapasowe#kopie_tworzone_w_panelu_administracyjnym|here]]**.
If the update is done from version **2.0.X**, first of all you should install a version **2.1.0** and update the database.
===== BACKUP OF THE MODUS FOLDER =====
From version 2.0.17, the installation program upgrade_modus.exe creates a backup of the whole Modus folder before installation of new versions of files. If, for any reason the installation was aborted, (e.g as a reason of the power cut), you can use their copies and retrieve the system to the version from the update attempt.
If the file was corrupted and the system does not start:
* Go to the folder rho_modus_backup that is located in the folder that includes the Modus system (usually it is C:\Modus\rho_modus_backup)
* copy the files, which are located there,
* return to the folder Modus (C:\Modus)
* paste the copied files,
* run the Modus system.
