First installation of the Modus/ MESO system
Installation types
The work in the version of one workstation.
In this case, there is possibility of working with the program and simultaneously, all the program's data will be stored there. To make it possible, on this computer:
install the server of the Firebird database,
install the Modus program,
there have to be database files (they are automatically placed in the Modus/db folder at the time of the Modus installation )

Security keys
To work in the Modus system, you need security keys. These are small devices that are plugged into the USB slot of the computer. In case of working in the network version, the system can use:
workstation keys - each computer requires to have the security key plugged in. In this case, the server can work powered by Linux or Windows operating systems.
one server key - the key is plugged into the server, on which the Modus system is installed. Other workstations do not need security keys or Modus installation. The system is activated through the RDP remote desktops. In this case, the server should work powered by the Windows Server operating system and possess additional licenses for the remote desktops.
Installation of the Firebird database server
-
-
-
Linux - do not install Firebird from the Linux packages. Additional information about this topic you can find
here.
MacOSX
On the server, install the Firebird database server, preserving default settings.
After installation, it is compulsory to change a default password to the Firebird database!
RHO Software does not take responsibility for the safety of your databases.
For the effective work of the databases,
you have to make configuration of the Firebird server(e.g. for the work with many processors). The configuration takes place by means of
firebird.conf. Detailed information about this topic can be found on the website
http://www.firebirdsql.org/en/reference-manuals/
Installation of the Modus system
In order to install the system, it is necessary to have the administrator's rights or activate the installer with the administrator's rights (Uruchom jako…/Run as…)
Pobierz plik instalacyjny programu Modus ze strony serwis.rho.pl:
Activate downloaded file,
The installer's window appears that informs you about the installation of the Modus application. Click on Yes.
The welcome window opens , click on the Dalej.
The next window consists of the license agreement. Familiarize with it. If you accept the conditions, choose the option Accept the license conditions i and click on „Proceed”. Otherwise, click on Delete.
The the license agreement that was not accepted, disables for the program installation!
In the next window, give the installation folder of the program (or accept the default one) and click on the Proceed button.
Another two windows enable you to choose the place of the program in the Start menu, as well as the order of creating program icons on the desktop and on the Quick Launch toolbar. After making the choice, click on the Proceed button.
Next window consists of the summary of the installation parameters. In order to confirm, click on Install button.
The process of installation will begin.
Click on the Finish button. If the option Start-up the Modus program was not unmarked, the program will activate automatically.
During the Modus installation you have to accept the installation of the security's key driver.

Configuration of the connection with the database
During the installation of the Modus program in the db folder, database files are also installed (start.fdb, bin_start.fdb)
On the Linux servers, the case sensitivity is important concerning the name of the base (for simplification, the base names should be inserted in small letters, including the extension.
From the version 2.2.0.268.Alfa configuration of the connection with the database takes place during the first running of the Modus.
To configure the connection in 2.2.0.268.Alfa version:
unblock the 3050 port. More information about this operation you can find
here,
Run the Modus and click on Yes,
Define the localization of database,
Click on Confirm,
run the ModusAdmin and click on Connect.
In the window Loggin data to the base:
After connection with the base, register the system by clicking on the Program Registration, and next Download the license.

working on one workstation:
unblock the 3050 port. More information about this operation you can find
here.
run the ModusAdmin and click on Connect. From the RHO server, the license will be automatically downloaded.
Working on many workstations:
SERVER:
on the computer that plays a role of the server create the folder, e.g. modus_base,
locate there the database files start.fdb and bin_start.fdb (check if the files are protected from the transcription. For safety, users should not visit this folder in the network)
unblock the 3050 port. More information about this operation you can find
here.
USERS' WORKSTATIONS:
unblock the 3050 port. More information about this operation you can find
here.
on the workstation with the installed Modus, run the ModusAdmin,
in the side menu choose Settings,
in the field Localization of the database define the localization of the database files that are placed on the server:
for the base located on the server with the system Windows - e.g.:
C:\modus\db\start.fdb
for the base located on the server with the system Linux - e.g.:
/baza_modusa/start.fdb
complete the data in the field Address IP serwera bazy danych Firebird - np:
192.168.1.1
save the inserted settings by clicking on Save settings.
fill out the data in the window Data of logging into the base.
insert above settings in the ModusAdmin on every workstation.

ModusAdmin - 2.2.11
Od wersji 2.2.0.374. Alfa Modus owns a new version ModusAdmina - 2.2.11.
In this version, ModusAdmin:
makes a considerable change in the area of backups maintenance,
it was prepared to perform a conversion of database into the Unicode format.
Starting from the 2.2.11 version of ModusAdmin backups will be made only on the side of Firebird server. Thanks to this solution:
operations concerning backups' making, retrieving base from the backups and optimization of database will be conducted much faster (on the Linux servers even several times faster);
such operations will be much safer and not vulnerable to network breakdowns - everything takes place on one computer without the need of network.
According to this, after updating the system to 2.2.0.374 version, you have to do the following:
On the computer-server (where Firebird is installed and the base is localized), create or choose the folder, where the backups of the Modus base will be made. In order to increase the safety, this folder should not be available in the network. Rights for transcription should be given.
Save or memorize the whole (absolute) access path to this folder, e.g.:
On the computers, where you use ModusAdmin, connect to the base, and next click on 'Backups' button. In the field 'Backup folder' enter the access path. Remember that, form this version it is the access on the server, not a local access. Because of this, ModusAdmin will not check if the folder exists, nor will it try to create it. If you enter an access path which does not exist on server, the error will occur during the attempt of creating the backup or retrieving database from the backup.
Make a copy of the database. After finishing, check if there are copy files on the server. Check if the copy files appeared on the server. If the copy is not made (but it is connected with the base), then the access does not exist on the server, or the folder doest not have rights for transcription.
First running - registration of the workstation
In order to run the program and the registration of the standard post/MAX or PRO:
plug in the security key (MAX or PRO) to the USB slot,
run the program
Login: ADMIN
Password: leave empty
click OK in the window informing you that this is the first program running resulting in the registration of the workstation,
select the type on the Registration card of the workstation: Standard. Fill out the remained data - for the next running of the program you need the security key plugged in (MAX or PRO).
In order to run the program and register the production/terminal workstation
plug in the MAX security key MAX to the USB slot,
run the program,
click OK in the window informing you that this is the first program running resulting in the registration of the workstation,
-
to run again the terminal workstation, plug in the terminal key.
