DATABASE RETRIEVAL FROM THE BACKUP

Operation of retrieving the database from the backup is made sporadically, in special situations, e.g. server's breakdown. It can be a risky operation, because after retrieval of the data from the backup there is no possibility of retrieving the existing data in the base before starting the operation. For this reason…

For this purpose you have to find a catalog with database files, create there a subdirectory with a name, e.g. copy_before_retrieval and copy database files to this subdirectory.

In order to retrieve data from a backup, you have to:

• run the administrative program ModusAdmin; you can do this by using:
  • Start menu> All programs> RHO Software> Modus> Modus Admin,
  • or find the folder, where the system Modus was installed and enable the program ModusAdmin.exe;
• choose the database from the drop-down list, that will be substituted for data from the backup;
• go to the tab Backups;
• on the list of available backups choose the file of the copy, from which the retrieval of data will take place and press the button Retrieve data from the copy; if there is no appropriate file of the copy on the list (e.g. when the copy was made on the other workstation), press the button Add the file to the list of copies and indicate the localization of the appropriate file of the copy;
• confirm the retrieval of the base; after completion of the operation you can run the Modus program.
