First installation of the Meso system

Installation types

++++ Ekran: Work in the version of one workstation| ++++

In case of using Meso program on several computers online, work results will not be stored on particular computers. The data from every computer will be transmitted and stored only on one computer - Server.
In order to make this type of work possible:

In case of lack of connection with the Server (e.g. switching off the computer), the work with the program will be not possible!

Security keys

To work in the Meso system, you need security keys. These are small devices that are plugged into the USB slot of the computer. In case of working in the network version, the system can use:

Installation of the Firebird database server

  1. from the website http://www.firebirdsql.org/en/server-packages/ download the Firebird database server in 2.5.2 version, compatible with the operating system of the computer, where database of the Meso system will be stored.
  1. On the server, install the Firebird database server, preserving default settings.
After installation, it is compulsory to change a default password to the Firebird database!
RHO Software does not take responsibility for the safety of your databases.
For the effective work of the databases, you have to make configuration of the Firebird server(e.g. for the work with many processors). The configuration takes place by means of firebird.conf. Detailed information about this topic can be found on the website http://www.firebirdsql.org/en/reference-manuals/

Installation of the Meso system

In order to install the system, it is necessary to have the administrator's rights or activate the installer with the administrator's rights (Uruchom jako…/Run as…)
  1. Download instalation file of Meso system from serwis.rho.pl:
  2. Activate downloaded file,
  3. The installer's window appears that informs you about the installation of the Meso application. Click on Yes.
  4. The welcome window opens, click on the Dalej.
  5. The next window consists of the license agreement. Familiarize with it. If you accept the conditions, choose the option Accept the license conditions i and click on „Proceed”. Otherwise, click on Delete.
The the license agreement that was not accepted, disables for the program installation!
  1. In the next window, give the installation folder of the program (or accept the default one) and click on the Proceed button.
  2. Another two windows enable you to choose the place of the program in the Start menu, as well as the order of creating program icons on the desktop and on the Quick Launch toolbar. After making the choice, click on the Proceed button.
  3. Next window consists of the summary of the installation parameters. In order to confirm, click on Install button.
  4. The process of installation will begin.
  5. Click on the Finish button. If the option Start-up the Meso program was not unmarked, the program will activate automatically.
During the Meso installation you have to accept the installation of the security's key driver.

Configuration of the connection with the database

During the installation of the Meso program in the db folder, database files are also installed (meso.fdb, bin_meso.fdb)

On the Linux servers, the case sensitivity is important concerning the name of the base (for simplification, the base names should be inserted in small letters, including the extension.
Configuration of the connection with the database takes place during the first running of the Meso.

Working on one workstation:

To configure the connection:

  1. unblock the 3050 port. More information about this operation you can find here,
  2. Run the Meso and click on Yes,
  3. Define the localization of database,
  4. Click on Confirm,
  5. run the RhoAdmin and click on Connect.
  6. In the window Loggin data to the base:
    • insert the password (default password:masterkey),
    • user SYSDBA,
  1. After connection with the base, register the system by clicking on the Program Registration, and next Download the license.

BACKUPS

Backups are made only in the Firebird's server. Thanks to this solution:

To make the copy, you have to:

During making the backup on demand you do not have to stop the work in the Modus system. Users can normally work.

Apart from the manual mode, the backup is made automatically, always before the update of the database to the new version, as well as during the optimization of database. In such cases, an appropriate description of the copy is added.
