Beginning the work with the Modus system (wersja Free)
Instruktion for Modus Full Version.
In order to begin the work with the Modus system you have to reflect in the system the production process performed in the company. To do this, it is necessary to define, among others:
- what type of a product will be made (group of products - simple product/combination product),
- in what way the products are made (production technology),
- what are the components of products (formula).
Step I: Configuration of the program
- choose a group of products - in version Modus Free there are two groups of products available:
- simple produkct (in the formulas of products that belong to this group, there are specific materials and their quantity needed for production);
- combination product - it is defined at the stage of order (in the formulas of products that belong to this group, you can add production groups of materials. Their use can be expressed in variables, mathematical formulas or usage charts. Choice of the material and the value that will be used as a variable/variables take place at the time of placing an order).
For the combination product define Families and Elements.
- define:
- Production groups of materials (it refers to products that are defined at the stage of order)
- materials ( by selecting the production group of materials, if the material will be used in the formulas of products defined at the stage of order)

Comparison of groups of products:
| GROUP OF PRODUCTS | ||
|---|---|---|
| Simple product | Combination product | |
| compatibility of batches | NO | YES, with possibility of change to NO option |
| variants | NO – every product has an individual index card | YES - variants are created during placing an order , according to the chosen materials or variant values |
| formula | In the formula, specific materials and their quantities are defined | A component of formula can be a group of materials. A demand can be expressed in a variable, a mathematical formula or a usage chart |
| assembly/disassembly | Possible | Impossible |
| product as a component of the formula | it can be a component of the formula | it can't be a component of the formula |
| families and elements | exist | they have to be defined |
| price groups | do not exist | they can be defined |
